1. Customs Duty (5%)
Dubai imposes a 5% customs duty on the total CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) value of the car. This means the fee is calculated based on the car’s purchase price, shipping cost, and insurance.
2. Value Added Tax (VAT - 5%)
In addition to the customs duty, a 5% VAT is charged on the total cost, including the customs duty itself. This tax applies to all imported vehicles, whether new or used.
3. Registration and Inspection Fees
After clearing customs, you must pay for an RTA inspection (approx. AED 170-350) and vehicle registration fees (AED 400-1,000 depending on the car type).
4. Other Potential Costs
If the car does not meet GCC standards, modifications may be required, adding extra costs. Additionally, port handling and storage fees may apply if the car is not cleared promptly.
By understanding these charges in advance, you can ensure a smooth car import process without unexpected expenses.
